My '90 dakota 3.9 mag has a tendency under hard acceleration to not shift at its peak and over revs itself, or else while traveling at highway speeds then accelerating hard to get around a vehicle, it will seem like it has dropped into nuetral then shifts up which wastes a lot of time especially when you dont have much. I have had the tranny rebuilt and it still has the same problem. I have gone through several governors and they have made no difference. If anyone knows anything about this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Matt,

I also have a 97 3.9L 4x4 CC and it has 50K miles. Tranny shifting is horrible, started at 40K miles and is rough mainly in second gear. Has never towed a thing, what is the deal.... I have read most these trannies are dumping at 40K miles, what is going on? Do I need a rebuild?

i have 95 dakota with 62k that keeps dropping out of overdrive then after a few seconds jumps back in. and if i take the overdrive off it goes into overdrive by its self. from what i'm being told right now it looks like i need to rebuild the trans. anyone know if dodge is doing anything about replacing these crappy transmissions?

My truck wouldn't shift into second at WOT and Dodge replaced the entire valve body in the transmission. It is now fixed.

This was after 3 trips to the dealer for the same problem.

I have a 99 Dakota SLT w/ the 3.9 V/6 and I have an erratic sift problem w/ my trans. It hangs from 2nd to 3rd 'till I hit around 4k RPM's (usually) and I have already changed out my trans filter and fluid and replaced the fluid w/ ATF+3 fluid. This did not cure the problem. If anyone can give me some suggestions on my problem or if they know if a 727 Torqueflite trans will swap in place of the P.O.S. trans the're putting in these things, please let me know. I really appreciate it!!

my transmission on my 95 v6 dakota was acting up downshifting at the wrong times and even coming out of gear on the interstate and reving my engine up repeatedly. just shifting all eratic. i had my tranny rebuilt and then found out from dodge that the main computer was messed up. it never showed up on the scans that the mechanic who rebuilt the transmission did. dodge replaced the computer for free. and now it runs fine.

I've rebuilt the tranny, and it worked for a few monthes, but know it is starting to act up again, I'm going to take it in to see about the computer, which from what I've been hearing should fix the problem. Good luck to everyone trying to get these trannies to work.

I have a 2000 cc 5.9 and the tranny doesnt want to shift from 1st to 2nd some of the time after it gets warmed up but its only after i puti it in reverse. i can shift it manually and it works fine. and if u put it in drive it seems to have a hard spot in the throttle and once u push it past the hard spot it will shift. i saw in on of the other conplaints that he cleaned the battery posts and it fixed a problem simile to this. Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and if they had figured anything out
