Subject: 92 Dak lurches in 1st gear

Anyone know what could cause my Dakota in 1st gear to lurch forward with what feels like every rotation of the dr shaft?!? This happens only from a dead stop, in 1st but not 2,3,4,5 or Rev (it's a manual 5-speed, V6 LE.)

Also, if I gently rev the engine as I let out the clutch in 1st, the gearshift knob actually moves to the right about 6-8 inches as the truck is violently lurching forward!!! This is really weird! Has this happened to anyone else? any suggestions?

Oh, har dee har!

I found the problem (in the small chance that ANYONE is interested)-- broken motor mounts! It seems the entire engine, clutch, and transmission would lift themselves up by the torque of the driveshaft about 2 inches. Of course, I need a new clutch, but now that I replaced the mounts, the ride is a lot smoother!
