hate to tell you this, but not all of us tear our equipment up. If it's made poorly, then it's made poorly. My truck has regular service, and I don't take it off road. You wanna tell me why I have locks that don't work and had to replace my turn signal switch? Or the leaf springs that still squall? HMMMM....don't think it's me.

I agree, dakotas are crap. brakes 3 times rotors 3 times. sway bushings, heater core blew trashing the inside, now drivers door is crap..and it always feels like I am driving in sand.. like the truck is working too hard, I have intermittent pull some days tot he left somedays to the right.. I have intermittent burnt brak smell, The heater diverter just plain fell out.. took dash out to replace... and still the heat never gets to the floor.. it just burns up the wires in my dash.... not to mention the 12 miles to a gallon crap mileage... I am done wiht american made crap. MY 92 toyota camary... is tighter adnruns better than my 01 dodge crap.... When are Americans going to wake up and build quality..

And it's so weird, that my 01, Quad cab, with 75,000 miles, has had NONE of these problems.

As Eastwood says-are you feeling lucky?

My 2001 club 4x4 SLT has been ok, I had the rotor problem, and I took it in because the factory installed the wrong pistons. Other than that it was only for the recalls.

well, i recently had a problem with the 2000 quad cab, 93,000 miles. the engine was reving up and down during idle. the dealership checked battery, idler, cleaned thottle plate, then finally updated the computer. luckly it hasn't done this since, think god. dealership was as tired of seeing me as i am of them. Also my truck stays on the road 2wd, and gets serviced every 3,000 miles. i have had all the same problem as everyone else...it just the truck.

I fixed the lock issue since I didn't have $1,000 to replace all four locks and pay for the labor. I pulled the fuse! Now the locks only work with the key, but hey...they work!

I missed out on the ball joint recall though. Too many miles. She now has 120,000 on her odometer and she's a 2000 DQC.

Frustrating issues...but you would have thought they would have worked some of the kinks out since the Durangos came out first.

What is the real story on the HVAC diverter/air control door problems? My 2001 Ram only has air coming out of the defroster outlets regardless of which position the selector switch is in. Dealer says the door may have become distorted/broken/ stuck and the entire dash needs to be removed at $800+ in order to repair. Sounds fishy to me! Sounds more like defective materials problem.

I've heard that it's a problem with the resistors burning out on the blower control switch. Do a forum search, I believe there are threads on repair and replace.

Does anyone know where i can get a complete list of all recalls for my 2000 Dakota 4X4 club cab? The only thing i have recieved for a recall notice on mine was for the upper ball joints. I had that done but when that did that repair, they said that my lower ball joints were bad as well. I had to shell out over $400.00 for the lower ball joints and a front end alignment! As far as the other things i have seen posted in here like water on the floor boards, rotors, etc... nothing like that YET on my dakota. Has 124,000 miles on it. Bought it two and a half years ago with 98,000 miles on it!

I'm having issues with my low beams not working. High beams work fine. Low beams used to come on after flashing to high beams but no more.
Is this part of the central timing module? If so, where is the central timing module?
Dumb question I know, but I'm a hockey player pretending to be a mechanic today & I didn't sleep at a holiday express.
Help

I tried to post this last night.

Check your headlight switch. Mine has already been replaced once, and it's going again. Going from low beams to high, I lose all lights. Then I pull the switch again, and I get low beams back. FRUSTRATING!
