 Subject: skipping when first cranked????

I was just wondering if anybody has had a problem with their 318 skipping just for a couple of seconds after they crank it?? Their is no skip when I go to drive it just a litlle skip when first cranked. It almost sounds like it is sputering. My dads truck w/ the 3.9 revs up to about 1500 as soon as you crank it. Not mine it goes up to about 700 and then smooths out and begins to pur!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!
