I have a 1990 CC dak. I run a Xpold CDX-M630 head unit. Xpold 5.25 speakers front, Infinity 5x7s rear, an MTX 2150x amp. I am fabricating a custom seal box with just over 2.2 cubic ft of airspace. I am intrested in the New Sony Xplod XS-L1246 alunimum cone 12" sub woofers. They claim to have a RMS power rating of 50-400W and a max of 1200 Ws. Has anyone heard them of know any tech info about them? Thanks
Joe E.

I was looking at the aluminum sony 12 in subs. They run a 1200 w max. 50-400W RMS.
I am running a dual 12in sealed box. I made it and it is sealed at all levels. I am also fillen it with poly fill. What do you recomend.

How much are you going to spend on the sony's? You can get a nice pair of JL's for about 200 w/o the box. They will hit alot harder thent he sony's and they have great re-coil, for clear bass. I personally dont recommend buying online because of the fact if you go to a audio store and stick with on estore get to know the guy they tend to make deals for you. I am putting a complete new system in, in the beginning of Nov sometime. Me and all my friends use this place and i am getting for example my head unit that normal costs about 480. They have told me that i will get it for about 270-290. Make friends with them. Let me know the price of what you are gonna pay for the chromed out sonys and ill see what i can find in that price range

OK, I have been off line for 3 days. My Apts upgraded their T1 ethernet line to the T3 line. It was out for days.

N E Ways... I am looking to spend about $200.00 . The sonys were between 175.00 ans 210.00 for the pair. I liked their wattage and numbers. But I have never ran them. Any comments are appreciated.
I got my sealed box in my truck.. It has about 1cu/ft per side. Its liquid nailed and caulked together. 3/4 in part. board. My amp did some wierd sh!t. When I paralled wired them, it worked, but when i hooked one sub to each channel, only the left sub worked. I must have a fried channel. Thanks for the help guys.

Check with a dealer and talk to them about JL W-0 10 inch. you should be able to get a pair for about 200. They will blow the sonys away. I ran those for a few years now i am getting ready to run the W-6's.

www.jlaudio.com

there are the specs for all the subs JL puts out. Anyother questions shoot me an email and I'll help you find something better.

I recomend the JL's but that is my preference. The best thing about them they are over good size so you can make them fit well in a nice box compared to others speakers that are 10 ince from face to back.

JL seem to fit the bill for a lot of people I still like IDQs (image Dynamics) or Diamond makes a good SUB to, All in all it just what kind of sound you are looking for. If you like a lot of SPL or if you are more of a SQ person.

I would have to recommend the IDQ's they are an awsome speaker for SQ. I had one 10" in a sealed enclosure in the trunk of my Grand Marquis with Boston Acoustics up front and it was sweet. As soon as I figure out how I am going to get the IDQ into my new 2003 Quad cab, that will be rockin also.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your help with this. What is SPL and SQ? I lke a good sound that can handle all bands of the bass level. I will not be driving around blasting bass for the next block to hear. I want a good sound for me, not everyone else. I will definitly look into those JLs. And IDQs. where is a good place to find them? Thanks
Joe E.
Have a nice weekend. Ill get back from a trip sunday night. Ill Reply then. Thx

Mate, if youve heard the Pioneer 15" subs youd fall in love, but i have a XSL1536 Sony runnin off a XM1502SX, this has around 70dB more whilst both in a 40L enclosed box. There also was a Soundoff not more than 4 months ago where a Guy had 6 XSL1236's and he didnt re-inforce his windows, this in turn cause them to break and pop.

I do like the sony headunits also for features and power, but the 6x9's are not that great compared to KIKA 7x10's these things feel like 10" subs and theyre in the parcel shelf!!

just an opinion!!
