Message: Why do door speakers NOT need to be in a box of some kind? Would the sound not be better if those speakers were in a sealed enclosure as well as the subs?
Message: The door itself is an enclosure, since your not playing any deep bass from the front speakers sound pressure is not a key element for them to sound good. If you were to put them in a proper size enclosure they would still sound good, maybe better but they would be less sensitive to low volume music. Door speaker are designed for doors, that is why they sound good in there.
