Subject: Porblem w/ fact. mounting rings & Spk'rs

I had this problem today, I was goin to put new door speakers in my 97 'kota, and hooked up the wiring, it sounded great, but i didnt have a way to mount them today. so, the speakers i have, have seven holes all that way around the speaker, (6 1/2" size spk'rs). so, im gonna get some cable ties, and wrap them through the holes in the speakers, and around the factory mounting ring, i have the foam baffles from crutchfield so that will help it if rattles any. Im gonna try this, and take pics of it tommorow afternoon, and see how it goes. ill post results later. anyone ever try this or thought of it? Good Idea?

I riped everything out and mounted the speaker to the sheetmetal of the door. It sits a little ways back but its only a midbass

Rattle Rattle Rattle is what you will hear. Make yourself the simple MDF mounting ring and be done with it.

Cut a piece of Medium Density Fiberboard so you can mount your new speaker in it then trace your old speaker trim ring over that and cut. Mount the ring using existing holes, then mount your speaeker on that ring. You have a secure way to mount speakers forever and no chance of rattling.

One of my friends done this with his car one time and all was well for a little while then one nite they broke and the speaker was falling around and it ruined the speaker..

Do it right the first time...thats just my 2 cents..
