Hey guys...

Ive got a 2002 CC Dakota, and Im looking to put some subs in the back under the jump seat. I curently have the stock cd deck and Im not looking to change it out. What I need to know is:

What the best enclosure?
Whats the best subs to fit said enclosure?
Will I need another amp for the subs, and if so, best brand?

Keep in mind here that Im going for a good sound on a reasonable budget. If you post costs please post whether it is in Canadian dollars or Us dollars.

If anyone has pics of a similar install, please post them or a link to them.

Thanks very much in advance.

Well there are really only two brands of sub enclosures for the CC. MTX thunderform (2-10" subs) and the JL Audio enclosure (1-8" sub). They both come with subs or you can get the MTX empty and choose your own subs. The MTX is almost always on ebay and it is fairly cheap for 2-10" subs and an enclosure, and you can also get it with a built in amp.

You will need some kind of an amp if you want to run subs. Go to Crutchfield.com and look at whats available then search around to find it cheap. They have a pic of the thunderform on crutchfield.

I've had good luck with Kickers, JL Audios, and Alpine subs, but i've never stuck them into my Dakota, only jeeps and mustangs, so i don't know if they will sound good, probably want to go with a pair of 8"s, and a good amp. So you know, amps are not an option, if you have a sub you must have an amp.

But again, probably some kicker 8's and an explode or alpine amp if your looking to go inexpensive.

Well I figured there would be more selection, but I guess not if I want it to fit under the jump seat. Thanks for the tips guys.

Now my next thought, how dificult is it to tie-in to the factory system?

i just did it two weeks ago man, take off the 4 seat belt t-45 bolts i believe, pull the sill plates off by the door and tug the panels off the side where the rear speakers are, unscrew the speakers, and wire into a line out converter, or in my case, i have a jbl amp, and it takes high level input, no rca's needed, and it works great as an aftermarket cd player w/ rca's. hope this helps...
