How hard would it be to make a custom box
(for the back of the truck... the actual box on the
truck) full of speakers and subs and
everything else needed.... could be removed
so do not have to drive around with it all the
time. possible to do? saw one in truckin in the
back of a chevy dually looked nice with
everything carpeted... wondering if one could
be made for dakota and still be removable.

Anything is removeable. It isn't too good an idea though to put the regular speakers back there, and you shouldn't even need that. Any good component set or coaxials in kick panels up front or even in the doors, with respectable power, will be fine. Are you talking about building a box in the bed with a blowthrough under the rear window? Or just in the extended cab area??

you should look into a military supply store. I am in the Marines and we have all kinds of connectors that are meant to be plugged and unplugged in a jiffy. A friend of mine used this connector that had 11 wires and a screw on/off base. Pwr Gnd Rmt and 4 lines? Really anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Good luck, S~

I did this in an old Ford I had because I was testing box design in a regular cab and was pulling the box every other night to work or hide it. Mount your amp inside the cab and run only the speaker wires to the bed through a drain hole. I could strap the box down and hooked the wires up in about 2 minutes. When I wasn't using the box, I pulled the power fuse on the amp to keep anything from shorting out. I also punched a hole in the bottom of a plastic film canister (sealed the hole with silocon) where I could stuff the openb ends of the speaker wire, just to keep them out of the elements.

Good luck
