Subject: Where to mount the amp?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey all, im looking for a place to mount my new amp in my '97 Dakota reg. cab. It doesnt fit under the seat and I was going to mount it on the back wall but how would I affix it there without screwing through the whole cab?

If im not making sense the back wall of these trucks seem rather thin- if I put a screw into it I would have screws going right through it. Any problems with this?

Thanks-
-John

An idea that I use quite often is to move the carpet on the back wall out of the way enough to gain access to the sheet metal. Get a piece of 3/4" MDF and cut it a little bigger than the amp and secure it to the back wall with either silicone or epoxy. You can them mount the amp to that!

Thank you for the reply that was what i was thinking of as well, so, I will let you all know how it goes! I have a regular cab and I built a box that fits an 8" sub that wont take up any seat travel, so I will post pics. Thanks again.

I have a reg cab too, i mounted mine by taking a piece of really thick cardboard, and molded it to my cab. I then glued carpet on it and cut holes for my amp it works great. MY truck is an 88, so there was no carpet on the back wall
