 Subject: Stock speaker idea

I want to cut the grill that hides where the stock speakers are (2001 Dakota Ext Cab, No stereo upgrade package from dealer) and somehow make the speaker be in line with the door panel so it is visible (do you know what I mean?). Anyone done this or have any ideas on how to? I don't want to make new door panels or is this the only way? Thanks for your help!

You would just have to build up the metal panel with some MDF so the aftermarket speaker sits flush with the panel. Although I don't know if it would sit flush, the panel would have to be smooth. But it should be something that you could test out prior to cutting the factory stuff.
