I just put an Alpine 7894 MP3 player in mine last week. So far, so good. Never owned an MP3 before so I don't know what to compare to.

I have the kenwood z828 and it plays mp3 really well, the only difference between an mp3 disc and regular cd is that it takes a little while for it to load each song and folder when you change it, and you cant listen to it when fast forwarding, it just shows you the track time. but other than that best deck i have ever owned!!

Are any of these the 1.5 DIN size radios, or are they all the 1 DIN size. If the 1 DIN, how does it look and how much further does it stick out than the stock one did? I'm concerned with whacking my knuckles as I shift if I put a 1 DIN stereo in, and I haven't found a 1.5 DIN that plays MP3's yet.

The sony is 1 DIN and it does not stick out at all. Looks perfect with the trim kit installed

I also put an Alpine 7894 into my car recently, and I'm so glad I spent the extra bucks. Having mp3 CD's basically means you can listen to hours and hours of music and never change your cd. The songs can be organized into folders and so works just like a cd changer. If you have id3 tags on your mp3s you can read the title of the song as it plays.

The switching of songs might take some time on some decks, but the alpine has no such problems. Also, fast forwarding mp3s is just like fast forwarding the songs on CD.. you can listen as you ffwd.

Anyway, if you listen to mp3s and you have a burner, I'd recommend the Alpine 7894 to anyone.
