just a quick poll on what everybody's setup is like.

i have an aftermarket ;) set of components dei 3065's acually w/ the 1" tweeter. where does everyone here have theirs' mounted for best soundstage. btw, pods are not an option i dont think i can deal w/ the loss of leg room again. i have mine mounted temperarily in that little compartment right next to the midbass, just kinda wedged in there till i find out exactly what i want. has ne1 had any luck with just mounting the tweets on the floor??????

thanks

I found that this was a good local to bring the soundstage up off the floor.

Good luck with it!

No , sounds good. Just make sure you put the passenger side exatcly in the same spot on the door panel. What I did was wire them up , and a friend and I moved them to different spots, until we found the best sound.

These are Alpine SPS-1005 tewwters , not harsh at all. Very clean sounding.

it looks as if you have them mounted off axis??? ie, pointing towards the middle of the vehicle? or are they actually pointed towards the driver??? kinda hard to tell w/ the pic.....sorry about all the questions, thanks again

They are mounted to the center. When you take off the door panel , just hang it on the sill , and bring the wires out from behind. That way you can close the doors , and move the tweetwrs around. When you find the "sweat spot" mark the spot and go from there.

If you look in the pic , you can see where my power mirror switch is located (2000 model)That would be a great place to put them if you have a 2001 or newer truck. On mine , behind both door panel, you can see where the Infinity tweeters would have mounted , if you had that option. There is a connector there for the tweeter that does have power. The only reason I did NOT use it ,is because I don't know where the crossover point is set.

The tweeters are Alpine SPS-1005 balanced dome tweeters. 120 watts peak , 30 watts RMS.

I think I payed aruond $80 for both of them. Let me know how it goes. If you can , shoot me a pic when you are done.

I originally used 2 way MB Quartz in the doors. Thr Quartz had a crossover , so I just unplugged the tweeter in the Quartz, and usuing the same wiring ,hooked it to the Alpines. I still use the MB Quartz for mids in the doors.

My tweeters came with a bracket where i could mount them with one of the screws that hold up the visor, my Dak is an 87, but I'm sure you probally do the same thing with the newer models.

no, its really cool. take out a screw the holds up the visor mount, and put the tweet mount in between it and the mount, then screw back in place, run ur wire down the pillar on the winshield, it places them right up top, sound really good too. it'll be to ur left (driver's side) then right side (pass. side) sound real good there
