Subject: Adding Amp to Factory Stereo
IP: Logged

Message:
I just installed an MTX 4202 amp with teh MTX thunderforms. I spliced into the rear speakers to give the amp a high level input. When I power up the factory head unit, the fromt speakers and tweeters in the door come on, but the rears don't come on, subsequently the amp won't power on. If i unplug the high level input from the amp and then plug it back in, the rears and the amp come on. What gives? Is the factory amp sensing a problem? I check all the wiring and it's all correct. HELP!

Did you wire the remote turn on for the amp? This is a 12v signal to tell the amp to turn on? usually off the deck but you can wire it to your fuse box too.
Is you amp properly grounded?

The amp has an auto-turn on circuit when it senses any input from the stereo, and yes the amp is properly grounded. The amp does turn on and the sub's work great if i unplug and replug the high level inputs at the amp
