i would say thats a no go on the infinity's. they are more of an sq subs and i have heard of alot of ppl frying them, esp. when you want thump and too be heard coming. I have 2 15w3's in my dak now and they fit nice, actually im selling them cheap if youd be interested. need about 600 watts to power both. You could go with 2 kicker comp vr 12's for cheap on ebay and theyd be loud. email me if your interested in some jl w3's. mxm4352@sru.edu

Ryan- the infinity's are a bad choice. they will sound good a low volume but if you want people to hear it outside of trhe car at any distance long or short then go with ma audio, jl audio or auio bahn. rockford fosgate is another good brand sub but definetly not the best. If you get this brand it will be pretty cheap and sound good if you get them in high watage. To give you an example on ma audio, I had 3- 12" at 1000watts apiece and they blew the windows out on my old nissan pickup. they were in individual sealed boxes, not bandpass. If you get the right speakers then sealed would be better at high volume. But bandpass will make even low quality speakers sound great at low volume. The low frequncie is great in bandpass boxes.

i would get 2 kicker comp vr 12's on ebay new, would be like 200 shipped. and pick up a jbl bp600.1 amp and that will be more than enough power for those. build a simple box and it will be bumping loud for under 500 bucks. alot under

I had 3 mobile authority 1200a amps. That's a real 1200 watts each amp, not like those cheapy amps out there that claim to have as much power as they say on the box. the mobile authority 1200a amp is only a 2 channel so you can only hook it up to one thing. As far as the pricing on the subs $120 sounds a little low for a good ma audio subwoofer. The ones that I had were about $400 each retail give or take. The one's on ebay may not have been there competition series. see if they give a model number and then varify that number with the ma audio website to get more accurate specs and average pricing.

oh yeah one more thing, depending on where you buy your car audio accersories you may be able to talk the salesman down. You really don't need to spend a lot of money to get a good sounding system. It's all in how you shop and take your time to find out just what you want at the price you can afford. Be careful though. If you buy really cheap stuff it may sound good for a while but you could blow a sub or amp. Or even overheat your amp if you make it put out full power all the time, for hours straight.

i just talked to this guy that is really into subs and he said that i should get a 600d watt directed amp and eather 2 kenwoods or 2 kicker comps and he said that will really bang. and i kinda believe him cause i sat in his truck when he had them and i could barley stay in the truck when he was bumpin. do you think that that setup would bump though. or he suggested a kicker L7 12"
with a 800.1 kicker amp class d

I ahve a question about your friends subs. Were they in a sealed box or a bandpass box (ported). If it was a bandpass box then yes most everything will sound great unless you put full power to the subs. I go to a compition audio store and as far as kenwood or kicker subwoofers I see more of kicker. But my opinion if you want to go inexpensive but sound really good go with Sony explode subs 1000 watt. Sony explode doesn't sound great in a sealed box but if you put them in a bandpass box they sound great and you can really feel the lows vibrate you and the cars around you. But they will not hit really hard. But keep in mind that sony primarily makes good home audio. car audio is a hole other world. I personaly don't know anyone who has had kicker or kenwood so I can't tell you how they sound or if there is any problems with thme blowing or over heating.

Visionik is pretty darn good. It was derived from MA Audio. Visionik is also inexpensive. A great sub for the money. My friend has two visionik 12" @800watts and they hit very hard in a sealed box. And that is only powered by 1200 Watt amp.
sometimes if you get a bad bach they may blow, but any respectable retailer should replace them for free as long as you don't send too much power through them (and blow them that way)

You can get them for $99 each if you look around a bit , And the great thing is you dont need alot of power for them !

I'm a diehard soundstream user. Ever since I saw the first one I started buying them and the only thing I've run since is some memphis 1000d's but got rid of them and hooked up more of my soundstream stuff. Visonik makes good amps but there subs aren't really that hot. Yes they are good for the money but I don't get why they make a 1300 and 1500 watt amp if their subs won't hold it. Just a little tid bit, my friend paul won world final in extreme 1-2 using visonik amps. Model v900xd. He is selling them for I believe $300 each. They do a real world 1500 at 12-14V and will hold up to I believe 16.8 and at 16 they will do around 1800-1900 each. I can get more defenite info if anyone is interested. Oh and be on the look out for their new amps... a v2000xd or something. Supposedly class D 2000 watt strapable monoblocks. They are also supposed to be coming out with some huge SPL competitor sub to go with this new amp.

BIGTYMER - Did your friend have the subs wired up correctly inside the box. I usually do my own wiring completely buit when I had the distributor instal it for me they did it incorrectly and I blew the subs out when I put the full power to them. Maybe they just got a bad batch. I have never heard of soundstream before. Could you compare them to ma audio, audiobahn, of jl audio for me. Thanks. I also notice that if you put in another bridge in the wiring not just what the amp has already it will make the subs more efficient thus help preventig them from distorting and blowing.

alot better things to spend a few g's on than that 34 inch sub. as for small area, its nearly 3 feet wide, you would need a HUGE box to even hold/support it. better off spending 3-4 grand on 5 strokers/brahmas/w7's w/ w/ the rest of the money going to amps......that sub is pointless to me, just an eye catcher/ conversation piece.....
