Heres a install I'd like to show off to those of your that own Dakotas. This is a 2000 Standard Cab Dakota that my friend owns, he wanted 2 10s behind the seat without losing any space. And having seen the Supercrew sounds box, it's a piss poor design. This box allows you to mount two slim line 10s and an Amplifier as long as it's not redicously thick. All without losing the center console or any recline on the seat or how far back they can go. Also we put tweeters in the dash for his componet system and sound deadened the back half of the truck.

Heres a photobucket link

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Single Cab and am getting ready to put 2 Solobaric L7 8's in. What was the o.d. dimensions of those boxes? Did you cut the jack bracket out? What glue did you use on the box?
Good call on taking that carpet off the back wall and giving you an extra inch or so. Over all it looks good. Do you have any pics of it carpeted and finished up?
Good Job I like it!!

The install isn't completely finished, we just recieved the amplifier today so we had it in the to make sure everything worked and what not. Also you have to use a shallow mount sub to acheive this. And yes I did cut the jack mount out, also I just Elmers Pro Bond Wood Glue and an Airbrad nailer and t nuts there are absolutely not drywall screws or anything in this install. When it is finished I will let you know.

What's up man...didn't realize you were posting that info over here. lol

Scizolt, I know CMillet in person (unfortunately...lol), so I'll let you know what it sounds like when it's done. I went down to his place the other night and he plugged in just ONE of the 10's into his truck to show me how it sounded. All I can say is when I figure out whether I'm keeping or selling my Dakota (hoping to trade for another Dakota), I will most definitely be having him build me a box and we'll be doing a similar setup in my truck. I have the full-size eD 10's in my truck now, which SHOULD sound better than the slimlines they're installing, but my box is sh!tty and I think my subs are hitting the back of the seats and distorting like crazy. Only way I think I could make full-size subs sound good is if I were 5' tall (and I'm not very tall as it).

CMillet86 why didnt you use drywall screws?
Ya let me know when youre done Im pretty anxious to check out the final pics.
What amp are you using to power those subs? I also see you sunk the subs in thats a good idea to.
Think you could lend me the specs of the box? Ive got all the materials I need. I just havent had the time to start it yet. Im sure any specs you could give me would help me out.
You posted this at a good time. Just before I start mine.
Keep in touch and let me know the progess! thanks

I prefer not to use Drywall screws because in the event you ever have to take the subs out or what not it wallows out the screw holes. With T-Nuts and Allen heads, it allows you to use the same holes over and over again without destroying the box and creating possible leaks. The amp is a Elemental Designs Nine.2 bridged at 4 ohms which is 400 watts roughly. I'll give you some specs later today or tomarrow I know that the volume is roughly .35 cubic foot.

I have two Audiobahn AW102N 10" subwoofers in my truck. I did have a junky Sony Xplod 1200 Max amplifier then I decided on a new Kenwood 1000 Max amplifier with about the same specs. I need to get the Kenwood tuned it, but it hits hard and it hits low. I am about 5'10" and I have no problems with it in my truck. I will try to post some pictures.

well i guess i'm lame cuz i have a sony amp and some other weak 10's. one is a diamond and the other an infinty. But i did all the carpet work myself and i like the way it sounds.I took out the whole sond deadening and carpet panel, also those vents that are so thick. Looks good with all the black accents in the grey interior. The bucket seats give me a lot more room to work with. I have the passenger seat sitting in my office but it still needs a bracket made before it goes in.
Take a look:

I thought that you were saying you used
T-nuts through the entire box. I definetly see
the need to use them for the subs.
.35 cubic ft is pretty tight are those subs good
for that. Im not very familiar with the elemental
design style subs.
Hows the progress been going?

Those slim lines only require around .3 cubic feet.

Dimensions will depend on a variety of factors...mounting depth of the subs, volume you need for the subs (all subs require different box volumes to sound right), etc.

Well, since I got a different truck; I also got rid of my old sound system. I am deciding on either some Kicker Comp slims or making a custom box for the center console. Do the slim speakers hit hard and have good response? I do listen to rap, rock.

Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer.
well at least a stock one

From what I heard when cmillet was demoing one for me in his truck, they still hit really well and have great response. I will hopefully be getting mine installed soon and then I can give a much better review. I've got standard 10's in my truck now, and the slimline 10" didn't sound much different from mine...honestly sounded a little more "crisp".

They do have a little less throw than standard 10" subs, but I'm willing to sacrifice a small amount of bass to keep my passengers from hitting my subs with their seat every time they decide to lean it back. Also makes for a more attractive/professional build when clearances have been taken into full consideration.

I will probably go with regular speakers, but you never know. I sometimes wish that I would have gotten a CC or QC because I would have filled it up with big speakers.
