what wiring are you talking about? You just buy a wiring harness from the store that's made for your truck, wire it up to the head unit, and plug it into the truck's harness.

If you order the harness from crutchfield it comes with a wiring diagram.

It's the same as the '02-'04 Dakota with one BIG exception- the '05 does not have an IGN/ACC feed to the radio. You'll need to run one yourself from a key-on source, to the aftermarket radio's red wire.

I am installing a Pioneer DEH-P80MP HU in my 2005 Dakota CC w/o the Infinity system. What's the best key-on source to hook my red wire to? I want to be able to turn the key back and jam my new system when I get it and my new 6.75 premier speakers in.

hm. I think the cig lighter is switched key-on. It shouldn't be an issue tapping into that wire since the radio doesn't draw much current from that line.

Big Rell, while the cigarette lighter is key on/off i didnt have the option to use it due to the fact i already installed a load onto that circuit and did not want to risk blowing fuses, instead i ran a new wire out of the fuse box under the hood into the vehicle, to do this i found a spare fuse slot that was 12 v + switched, found the right side to use and installed it with a 20A fuse(right amperage for my head unit) i do not know off hand what number fuse it was, but i can explain to you where it was.....when looking at your fuse box from the top, look at the line of small blade fuses farthest to the driver's side of the truck. the farthest foward slot should not contain a fuse. this is the one i used. with this open fuse slot, the side of it closest to the drivers side is connected to the battery, and you should connect your wire to the opposite side, with the right amperage fuse installed in the slot. if you need a piture i will gladly email you one, just reply on this page and ill put a picture up. also feel free to ask any other questions =)
