 Subject: popping speakers

I have a 2001 Dakota Quad Cab. It has a factory cd/cassette player in it. When I turn on the radio I get a really loud popping sound. I believe it comes out of all the speakers. I went to have a new stereo installed, because I thought the factory one was shot. The new stereo did the same thing, so I had it taken back out. The installers of the new stereo said the popping was caused by the factory amplifiers. Any ideas on what to do about this or any other ideas on what the problem might be?

I'm not sure if its Infinity or not. It is just the cd player that came with it. How can I tell if is Infinity?

Well as far as I know, it might would have the "infinity" logo on it somewhere on the front or back of the unit. If not, I guess there's no way to tell.

It doesn't say Infinity anywhere. Do you have any idea what the popping is? Could it be the amplifiers?

If you have the infinity system in your truck you will have tweeters in your doors towards the top near the windows....
