Subject: building an enclosure

for anybody out there that has built a quality enclosure what is the "cocking" that is used to seal the box? when i boght a box from the store it had some kind of "cocking" at the edges where 2 pieces of wood meet. just wondering what that was for future info. any help would be helpfull. thanx

The "caulking" that is used from my expereince is LIQUID NAILS in the sqeez tube or in a caulking tube that fits in a caulk gun OR SILICON caulk is also a sutible choice.That is just what I've used I may have been useing the wrong stuff all this time though.

Yeah... I was reading up on building one from Crutchfield and I believe it says you can just use typical silicone.

Although it's caulking not cocking...LOL

I've always used liqid nails, clear silicone and once red RTV silicone I was up at like 2am making a box and Home depot was closed and I didnt feel like leaving my dash was apart and driving.

I used to use silicone until I took some subs out of an old box and noticed that it was peeling off. Now I use liquid nails, not only to seal but on the joints during construct. Liquil nails not only seals, it is also a bonding agent.
