Subject: Amp and Sub Question
IP: Logged

Message:
I am seriously interested in buying a MTX Thunderform sub box for my CC. From reading around on this site it seems that buying the box loaded minus amp is the way to go, at least within my budget. What amps would you recommend for the MTX box? I am not sure if i should get a 2 channel or mono considering the way the subs are wired. Would it be beneficial to get the box and rewire the subs a stereo setup? Any opinions are helpful. Thanks

Honestly i wouldent go with a mono amp. Get a 2 channel it works a lot better. I have a thunderform loaded with 2 alpine type E subs and a Boss Riot 545 amp. i recomend not bridging the amp, causes too much drain and on some amps, they can overheat (like mine). Also do not use the quick disconnect in the back. Leave that thing capped and drill 2 holes about 1/4" in diameter and run new speaker cable through that. When you have everything ran, seal up the excess space where the wire is coming through with caulk or whatever your preference is. I gotta tell ya, i did this to mine and it works GREAT! For an amp, i would recommend either audiobahn or earthquake. Both of those amps are very small in size and pack a huge punch. Also since its so small in size you can then mount your amp under the driverside seat.
