What are the ideal reasonably priced subs best suited to go into a gen III clubcab dakota. I have a jl 12 right now, will that require too much depth? Without fiberglassing what sort of depth will I have to work with, with mdf. I am not looking for competition sound just some descent back up bass.Is 1 12 enough or should I go 1 10 or should I say fukit and go 2 10's or 2 12's and remove the back seat.

Either i build a box for 2 10's or 2 12's under the rear bench. Have'nt decided to remove or keep the seat as of yet. Let's start with keeping the seat.

What speakers should I use that will fit in this style box that aren't too pricy. Keep in mind I am not building this for competition just pleasure. My plan for this style is too build three pieces. One on either end for each sub and then connect in the middle for either amp tray or tool tray. I might build as one peice haven't worked out the logistics yet.

Maybe I should just remove the rear bench all together and install two 12's. Not what I need but the saying is go big or go home.

if you just want good sound and you want to try to keep your seat then go with 2 10"s i would suggest somethign simular to the fosgate.. i have 1 forgate 8" and it sounds good for its purpose.. they dont; require to much space and will help you keep the rear seat.. and they don;t cost tp much about $60 per sub depending on were you get them.. other subs that dont require much space and sound good are the polk MOMO 10"s.. but the best chance of keeping the rear seat would be 2 10"s..

What else do you run with your 8" speaker. If 1 8" sounds as good as you say it does then 2 8's might be more what I am looking for. I want to replace my stock front and rear 6 1/2's also. Will this over power two 8" subs. I plan on running the new 6 1/2's from the deck.

I have started builing my own this afternoon. So far I have completed the bottom and the front. I am custum fitting each piece as I go. I did not take advantage of the shape of the floor by glassing, I just leveled off using blocks to create a nice flat surface to start with. Out with the back seat all together.

Does anybody know how to remove the back rest in the clubcab? I pulled on the bottom corner and broke the tab in behind. I don't want to destroy it as I might some day down the road decide it to go back in.

3/4" mdf is what im using and I might use a combination of paint and carpet to finish. In the end i'll have room for up to three 12" subs but will probably only install two. Still not sure on 10's or 12's.

When the back rest gets yanked what would be a good material to use to create a 'finished' look for what metal is exposed?

right now i pulled it all out but had it running of the stock headunit and a poweracustic amp.. i just aquired a smaller amp to mount under 1 of my seats or maybe in the jack area.. and a newer headunit will be here in a few days so with these components it shoudl sound better.. i actually started doing another box today to increase the air vol a bit and shoudl fit 2 8" in this one.. this is all set to sit in the compartment under the seat so i have full use of my seat..

I find the back seat somewhat useless for passenger purposes. It's great to throw all my gear but just not enough room for a person.

When I yank the back rest for the rear seat, what would be a good material to use to create a 'finished' look for what metal is exposed?

Box done. Two alpine type e's and kenwood 8151d amplifier. Managed to keep the '40' seat/seatbelt in the clubcab. Removed the tool tray and the '60' seat, leveled the floor and built up from there. Trying to get pics.

Hello all. I have the JL stealth box with upgraded dual voice coil 8" 10w2. I think it's running 275 watts at a 2 ohm load. It doesn't rattle the car next to me (at least i don't think so)but does rattle my brain enough to keep me thuroughly pleased. My truck is up for sale and I'm piece'ing out all the good stuff. Any one interested?

BCDakota, would love to see pics of your set up. Right now I have taken the whole rear seat out and put in 4 10's. I'll try and get some pics up as well.

that looks like a nice clean truck. you should be able to get your price.
Why did the tranny let go? I have the same truck with 130000 on it, and i'm guessing that the tranny is next to go. How much did it cost you?

How much for the stealthbox?

MTX sells a "thunderform" box for the Dak CC
that replaces the tool wells under the rear seats.
It looks just like factory (including the cup holders) and has two (2) MTX 4500 series 10" subs
installed. You can even find these setups on Ebay.
