I've always been a fosgate fan. i've put some series 1 and punch subs through some serous abuse and they still hold up. JL audio are cool if you plan to build a system to compete.
For the money though you cant beat fosgate. I have a 10" punch that i've had for about 3 years, still pounding away like no other.

why limit yourself to these two brands? there are a lot of (less expensive) subs that can blow these out of the water. epecally the JL's are WAY overpriced. RE and Adire Audio both make MUCH better equipment.

JL all the way. Get three DVC, and run them at about an 1 to 1.5 ohm load to a fosgate amp. I have 3 8's in my Dakota and they POUND.

Exactly what fivepointnine said. Do not get either of those brands.

JL = over priced.
Rockford Fosgate = crap

Go with RE XXX's, Adire Brahma(if you think you're man enough), or some Memphis subs.

XXX's and Brahmas are a perfect blend of pure power and SQ. But if you are going for a great easy listening sound and some nice bump, go with Memphis.
