Subject: Cooler within a custom box?
IP: Logged

Message:
Just curious if this could potentially cause damage...i'm thinking not but just double checking. I've got room for a 3rd sub or a middle compartment, and I'd like to build a small cooler there. With 3/4" mdf splitting the interior of the box into three sections, and then of course another layer of..something.. in that middle spot, would there be any threat to the subs that are in the outer boxes? Threat from cold that is, I'm not sure if you can literally "freeze" up a sub or not, and it doesn't seem like cold would be able to penetrate through the 3/4" mdf.

Note: This will just be a cooler for ice when needed, and possibly a compartment for my jack in the colder months.

Thanks in advance --

How would you plan on sealing the MDF? MDF soaks up water like it's going out of style, and once it does it's as good as soggy cardboard.

As for the cold itself, I doubt the air in the sub compartments would get cold enough to make a difference.

accually the cooler might do the sub some good. bazooka makes a chill kit for thier subs and amps. I've used it and it works. so it could make them last longer!
