 Subject: 95 Dakota Sport radio wires

I installed a CD player in my friends truck and when he turns off the truck the HU wont keep the memory... I have installed many HU's and usually color to color with the wires is all that i need to do but i cant find the memory wire i have unconnected and reconnected everything at least 5 times i am getting pissed... anyone with any help at all would be very nice.

I believe there is a "switched" and an "unswitched" power source to the head unit, the unswitched being the power source for memory. You want to try using a multimeter or a test lamp to see if you can locate a "hot" wire in the connector while the ignition is off. If there isn't one, check fuses. If there is, try to make sure it's going to the right place on the new unit. You might have the switched and unswitched wires crossed. Also, this page has audio wire colors for a 2001 Dakota, don't know if '95 is similar; http://www.me-mag.com/pdf/tip_1001.pdf.
