General rule of thumb is 1 pound per cu ft, but that doesn't always work out. I had to stuff my boxes 3 times, add a little more each time, to get it to sound the way I liked.

You can line the walls with sheet polyfil (batting) or just stuff the box, no need for adhesive unless there isn't much fill and the stuff is rolling around. Just stuff it in there and make a nice nest so the sub isn't jammed in the poly fill and the magnet vent isn't obstructed by the polyfil. Once you get the polyfil in there and positioned it's going to stay in place.

Try it without the polyfill and then stuff the box, you'll hear the difference.

Don't underestimate what the polyfil can do. I did... Initially, I used just the batting that came with my sub box, and it sounded OK (.35cu ft box, single S8L7). A bit muddy, but since I have a QC and the sub is behind the driver's side rear seat, I expected some muddiness due to the muffling from the seat back.

Then, due to shear laziness, I never put more polyfil in as I would have had to take the rear seatback out to remove the box.

Last weekend I finally added the polyfil to the box. Loosely stuffed the box, with a "nest" for the sub, and put it all back together.

Quite a difference, the muddiness is gone, and the bass is much "tighter" then before.

Stuff the box!! The $2 for the polyfil is quite a deal...
