Hello, i'm trying to install a Pioneer DEH-P6500 HU in my recently purchased 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport. I've installed HU's in my past 2 cars no problem, and my parents past 4 cars, and 12 of my friends cars no problem. This Dakota is mind boggling. After taking out the factory infinity system, i realized that there were 2 harnesses (speakers, power, illum, ect.) then there was a 2 pin connector that i have no idea what it is, and then there's a green wire w/ a black stripe, which i'm assuming is the ground because it was attached to a peice of metal sticking out the back. After i soldered the harness i bought from Circuit City to the harness that came with the Pioneer HU, i realized there was no ground wire with the harness from CC (There was, but i had to cut that half of the harness off because it didn't fit anything), i'm guessing you attach it to the green /w black stripe wire. i didn't know if i should connect it or not, so i ran a wire from the radio to a new chassis ground about 1 foot from the HU. After i turned it on, i noticed i had power and everything seemed to be ok, but i was getting no sound whatsoever from my speakers. i know for a fact it's not my HU (i just took it out of my 1992 Saturn SL2 2 days ago).

Any help would be appreciated here. i just want to know what the 2-pin connector is for, and the green wire w/ black stripe is for. also how to get some noise from my setup.

P.S. Sorry for the long post, i like to talk a lot.

Okay. The odd 2-pin connector is probably the CCD bus wire. You don't use that with the Pioneer, so tape it out of the way and make sure it doesn't short to anything.

That single wire that clipped onto the back of the factory radio is the Infinity amp ground. You'll need to tie that to ground somewhere else the amp won't power up.

cool, i grounded that green wire, and i also didn't realize that there was a stock external amplifier in the truck, so i hooked up the remote control (blue wire) wire to the antenna wire on the CC wire adapter and everything is working great now.
