Subject: no sound when both rca's plugged in

I haven't had the time to take it back apart yet and see for myself, but when I plug both RCA's (L and R) into my amp the sound goes WAY down. I can plug the Lrca into either input and it's fine. I can plug the Rrca into either input and it's fine. But, when I plug them both together it doesn't work. The only thing that I know that will cause this is having one rca wired one way and the other the opposite, right? But I took the ends off of the rca's and they are both wired the same at both ends.

It was late last night when I tried to hook this up so I didn't mess with it much. I know I've got to be missing something obvious.

Oh yeah, these rca's are comming out of my sub outs of my pioneer Premier DEH-P550. Also, I know it's not a problem with the amp because I had it hooked up to another source and it worked fine.

Any Suggs?

Can you plug the other HU pre-outs (front or rear) into the amp to see if the problem is there? If it is, the problem is in the amp, if not, the problem is further upstream (cables, HU, etc.).

The first thing I thought of though is that the pre-out signal is too high when both L&R are connected and it's screwing with the amp.

A LESSON IN SOUND WAVES

So I actually had time after work last night to take a look at the problem. First off let me explain a little more about the details of the system. I have a 2kQC. I have two amps behind the passenger side rear seat, mounted to a piece of MDF that goes across the back wall. (the reason I didn't have time to take a look at it in the first place, because I have to take the seat out to make adjustments to the amp wires.) On the drivers side I have taken the rear seat out and built a box for a friend that is two sealed enclosures in one big box that houses two 10" downfiring with 2" spacers and another solid piece of MDF for the base. I can't really explain it better than that, maybe I can get a pic on here sometime soon, if anyone is interested.
Anyway, The problem I found was actually my fault, not the rca's/amp/or HU. I had one sub wired to the amp pos-pos neg-neg, and the other sub wired pos-neg neg-pos. The subs being so close to each other were actually working, but you couldn't hear ANYTHING because of the cancellation of sound waves.
