Subject: Replacing Stock Speakers

Message:
I am looking to replace my stock speakers with some new speakers, and replace the stock amp to push whatever the speakers will hold. I already have two MTX 4500 series 10's with 135-watt amp, so I don't need any sub advice, I have those on lock. I just need brands of speakers and amps that have replaced stock ones, and how satisfied were you. I want some speakers that will handle some decent bass for their size, and not destort the treble. Any help will be appriciated!

P.s. Will 8 inch speakers fit in the rear speaker slots in a 2000 Ext. Cab?

I am running Infinity Reference 605CS components front and rear and they sound crystal clear running off a Orion 50Wx4ch amp. I have the subs crossed at 80hz and the mids crossed at 125hz, the mids sound great at low frequencies. I had to cross the mids at 125hz since there was too much overlap at 80hz with the sub and mids, both crossed at 80hz.

The Orion amp is probably too much since your sub amp only puts out 135W, but I would highly recomment the 605CS's. I picked them up on Ebay for $60 for a open box pair and $90 for a new set, they sell for about $150 in the stores.

8" speakers won't fit in the rear speaker holes of a CC since the cutout is 6 3/4. Problem with installing 8's in the rear would be cutting out the metal panel (though there is plenty of room to put in an 8) and then your stuck with the 6 3/4 grill molded into the side panel. If you alredy have subs, the 6 1/2" speakers should fill realy nice.

I'm running almost the same thing as DSW... Infinity Reference Components 605c up front with 652i in the back of my Quad Cab. The fronts are powered by a HiFonics 55 watt amp. The rears run off my Clarion's deck power for rear fill duty only (I've got a DSP processor to add surround sound effects)

I've got both the sub and fronts 6.5"s crossed over at 80Hz cause my sub is alittle weak (to me) in the upper bass, so I use the mids to reinforce it. I've run my crossover as low as 50Hz and those mids still sound fine, the highs are real smooth and I've got them set at -3dB setting on the supplied crossover.

Now I've got Infinity home theather speakers and just love the way they sound, been using Infinitys for years in other vehicles too with good results so I stick with 'em and recommend 'em to others, but give a listen at local shop if possible cause everyone has different tastes... espeically in tweeters.

I am running JL Audio XR 6.5 components up front.
VR series coaxials in the rear.
The front is powered by a JL 300/4 and the rear is powered by the Alpine 9831 headunit.

Sounds frigging sweet!
