hey spitz, i can get the 2 L7's under the seat easily, but like you said you are gonna have to alter the brackets because those subs are huge. 2 of those are going to shake your truck like hell. the last truck i did had one ID max, and that got hard on your ears after a minute, i can even imagine what this is going to do. but yeah, i will make it work. what side did you want the subs under, i think the 40 split side is on the passenger, and the 60 split is behind the driver. so driver side? and if you want to put pads on the enclosure, what i can do is sort of recess the subs like half an inch or so, that way the x-max from the subs wont hit the seats. sound good? my paypal account is igordon13@yahoo.com and let me know what color carpet you want. thanks

yeah ian that sounds good. how much is shipping to 64485? and how much again for the enclosure? is the bottom going to be made out of fiberglass or use the floorpan? if the latter i will dynamat it first. what i was talking about pads for is if the enclosure was too high for the brackets to be modified. do you know how i need to modify them? if it's possible i wanted one sub under each side of the bench, that way i could put down one side if i wanted it muffled sometimes. if you could squeeze about 14 inches between the subs for a recessed tray for the amp? i'm going with the rockford 1001bd if you need a reference, it's 13.07 in. but i figure 14 otta let me have enough room to run wires. thanks for working with me on this

ian, you stated that you can fit L7's, Crutchfield has the top-mount depth at 6-3/8 inches. I have a 02 CC and I would like to know if this is possible with your box(under drivers side passenger seat. Would you be able to provide some pic's? Please advise. Thanks.

SPITZ: hey i the original price was $300, but if you want an amp try too, and the subs to be seperated, then the price will be $400 shipped. and the entire box will be fiberglass, so no open holes or nothing, its quality. those I7's are going to be too big for the seats to fit flush, so we usually just build some seat extensions. just go to the local steel shop and ask them for 4" channel iron or see if they can come up with something usefull. and dont worry about the sound being muffled, i have put one 12" under the rear bench before, covered, and it still pounds. the only other thing i can think of is to build a false bench to sit on the sub enclosure. the enclosures will be able to hold over 200 lbs. so i think a bench will be ok to sit on.

Treeman: hey, we can put those L7's under the bench, but i think its cutting it close. you might have to alter the rear bench too. and i can use the same mounting style with your subs too, where we counter sink them a little so the X-max wont hit the seat and distort. if you can pull out the plastic tool tray and take a quick measurement from the floor pan to the bottom of the seat that would help. thanks.

ian, will the amp rack be in between the subs? is that possible? i hope so because i dont know where else to put it, the mid amp will be under the passenger seat but it's close to the seat. could you send me some plans to make a new bracket. i have no idea on how to make something for it. will the entire enclosure be fiberglass or some mdf in there for stability?

ok, here is a link on imagestation to a new f-150 we just did. this is like the R/T boxes that go behind the seats, so the same idea works for the dakotas. i am still trying to get pics from the guys we have done the under bench enclosures for. so those should be up soon. and spitz, i do have a grey vinyl, but most people i do these for like the grey carpet better. just send me an email and i can send you examples of both colors. thanks

I have a 99' cc and put a 3/4" spacer between the rear seat and the mounting bracket made out of wood( you will need an 1/4x1 1/2" longer bolts and washers ) then losend the mounting screws that hold the seat to the back wall and raised it up about a 1/2" more. Hope this helps everyone.

hey thanks for the info, and the same can be done if you want to raise the seat even more. for those of you with larger subs, ie. the L7's and ID max, this can really make it easy to add the enclosure and keep the back bench.

ok i finally got one of the guys to send me some pics of his f-150, where we put 2 12's under the rear bench. a few things have changed from the pic though.
1: we no longer use the carpet shown in the pics, we actually switched manufacturers and use the same trunk and interior liner the auto makers do. so the colors are more precise to the interior, look better, and are easier for us to apply.
2: ford trucks have smaller rear bench areas, so the subs probably wont stick out as much as in the pics. the subs in the pic only stick out about 1-2". so you wont lose any leg room
3: you can see in the pic the bench extensions we made. they are pretty easy, and all you need to do is cut some channel iron, drill the mounting holes and attach. so here is the link to imagestation for the rear bench enclosure. someone please let me know how to post pics to the forum.
thanks,
