ok, im tired of being stumped on how to put big bass into my reg cab dak sport so i want to cut into the cab, but i'd like to know if anyone had any problems doin it yourself and how you went about it. i took the carpet out of the back tryin to get more space for a box and noticed vents goin outside of the cab so i figured i could make that my entrance and put my rockford power 12" in tha back unfortunatly i dont have a bed cover so i'll have to buy one of those. any help is appreciated.

Mike, you may not like this suggestion but get rid of that air space hungry 12" and go with two or three 8" subs...they will fit much easier behind the seat of that regular cab and sound just as good, if not better.

I would cringe to cut up my truck to stick in a sub. Why not stick in some 8's or 10's like 360 suggested then you don't have to worry about the cut up bed and cab back panel. If you made a custom fiberglass encolsure to follow the contours of the trucks back wall and floor, you could realy maximize the air space behind the seat. With the glass enclosure you can use every last drop of available air space instead of making a box that wastes air space and leaves small unuseable areas behind the seat.

Check out my post that shows the sub boxes for my club cab. I stuck 2 10's under the seat with a lot of room to stow stuff. I wanted tunes, but didn't want to loose any room under the rear seat. I was able to stick more stuff under the seat with these sub boxes than with the stock tool tray, a + + since I had tunes and more storage. If I could stick in 2 -10's and not loose any room, you should be able to cram in some 10's or possibly that Power 12 if it's not too deep.

If you decide on the bed mounted sub enclosure, I saw a guy who used motorcycle inner tube as a flexible port between the bed and cab. Though, I don't know if the inner tube would work as a good material for the port since it will flex and probably distort the sound to some degree.

I am going to cut into my bed, but I have 18" subs. I would think that it would not be worth the cost for one or a pair of twelves. But if thats what you want to do then go for it. I'm not sure how that innertube worked that DSW mentioned but the material I am going to use is the surround that connects camper shells to the back window.

with what i have read, you should go no more the n 2 10's in a club cab. There is way to much noise boncing around. and i think 18's are over kill in the first place inless you only have 1.

yea i have thought about 3 8"'s but i just dont think that they will hit those low notes all that well, and i'm crunching numbers to try and get two tens in the back without having to move my seats up,i got the base of the seats up but i wana recline all the way back. i thought about tryin to get a 10" hx power that rockford came out with a year or so ago but i think it might be too deep i have heard it and it hits pretty damn hard. thanks for thoughts and suggestions.

To do this, you're going to need to go to your local specialty/aftermarket truck store and buy something called "Accordian boot" It's a flexible piece of rubber that is thick enough to keep from distoring the sound, but also flexes to allow the seperation of bed and cab. Cut straight thru, secure it any way you see fit, and then make sure you make the inside of your box look cool, cause everyone riding with you will see it. Good Luck

I just picked up two tens. And in the middle of getting the box for them, Hoping the subs will fit perfectly. I don't mind moving the seat up at all. but the box im looking at looks like it would fit fine.
