I have an 88' Dak Sport Standard Cab, Now we all know theres not much room behind the seats of our Gen 1 Reg Cab Dak's....But I am talking to this guy that owns Custom Enclosure buisness. I have been talking with him and he is going to start production of a custom fit box,for 2 10" subs, for our Gen 1's, now Im looking for measurements from people to help us make this, And let me know if you would be interested in purchasing one of these when he gets everything straightened out. Please post some opinions and help us get this box under production.....

I like that idea. I had to rebuild a speaker box to fit a 12" back there. The box isnt that large, but because its sealed and the standard cab is so small, it makes the P.O.S. Jensen 500W (200RMS)12" and the old (from 1997) RF Punch 55.2W amp sound awesome! My brother complains that he spent too much money on his professionally installed 600W RF Punch amp and 1000W RF sub in his '99 Grand Am. He says that my "system" sounds about the same. I dont know. I give a lot of credit to that older RF amp.

Sorry to get off subject. I like that idea! I may be unable to afford a cutom box, so a home-brew one is my best choice. Go Gen I! Atleast somebody is there for these trucks. Mine is a '89 dak w/ 3.9L standard cab. Go ahead with the boxes, give them a try.

hey

i have a 94 regular cab dakota, but although im not interested in buying that custom box, as i already have a 8" rf he2 sub and 201s amp installed behind my seat, i think you would have to make the bottom depth of the box under 8-9 inches, and make it about a foot tall or so, and maybe 3 feet wide?- my 8" truck box is i think 7" bottom depth, 5" top depth, a foot tall, and about 15" wide, which makes about 0.35 cubic feet of air space- for 2 10"s, you would need more like 0.66 cubic feet for each sub, if you have a sub optimized for small enclosures. so if i would have to guess at what dimensions you would need to fit 2 10s behind the seat of a regular cab, i would say 8-9" bottom depth, 5-6" top depth, and maybe 40-50" wide. when you get this custom box made id be interested in knowing the dimensions that were used.

NICE.. atleast theres someone out there tryin to help us out. but too late, i made a box to hold 2 kicker L5 10s with a built in amp rack holdin a Hifonics BX1000D, gotta carpet it yet then see how it works... its got about .95 cu ft of air space in each chamber.

anyways... its about 48" wide, 8" deep in the bottom 3.5" at the top and about 18 inches tall.

hope this kinda helps.. i can get pics of it if ya need...

Sounds good. I've got two 10"s behind my seats plus an amp. Though I only had to scoot the seat up a few inches, it's sort of uncomfortable. But me being a "towering" 5'7" it really makes no difference. That's a damned good idea though.
