your prolly not rly going to notice anything from that.. if those 12"s are not doing it for you i would get rid of them and getting some better 12"s

no reason to buy 2 8"s to add when you can just go and get 2 12"s that sound rly good by themselves

and im my opinion the only good MTX subs ever made are the 9500...

so in the end it is not rly a good idea

I actualy think that the 6000 and 8000 serices subs from mtx are quite good for HIT, but the suck in SQ.

I totaly agree though. The 8" will add very little to NOTHING. Get yourself a new amp and subs. MOST jl's are actualy quite good. Try a new amp first.

Borrow one from a friend if you must. Get 300 watts per channel or more going to it and see if that floats your boat.

Just a thought.

Always Thankfull,
Ben J.

1200 Watts?

the 401 only does 200 x 2 and 2 ohms...
the JL's might want a little more.. ive never worked with them yet though heard them... so i couldnt tell you wat to pump to them other then the recomended specs

Try to get another amp from some one with some more power..

or rebuild your box or something..

It's rated at 1200W peak, this is the maximum the amp could every pump out on one hard bass hit if everything was perfect, it's not the actual output of the amp. Look at the RMS numbers, it's more like 400W rms. Check and see what the RMS rating is for the subs, I think it's like 300W rms each, so you not running the subs to their full potential.

Peak ratings on amps and speakers is a bunch of smoke and mirrors, only consider the RMS ratings. A lot of the cheap amp manufacturers slap a 1500W rating on the amp, even though it might only push 300W. It's a marketing scam that many people fall for, would you rather have an amp rated at 400W RMS or 1500W peak. 1500w right? Wrong, the amp with 1500W peak might only push 300W rms.

I guess RF started listing peak ratings to compete with the cheap amp MFG's, couldn't believe that lowered their marketing standards. Well, I guess this goes in hand with the amps not being what they used to be.

If you really want to know what the amp is putting out, you can't really just go by what the amp or the box says. Take it to a custom audio shop and have them hook it up to see what it puts out. Somo amps, like Kicker and JL, actually put out more than they say. My Legacy (I love the amp, best one I have owned in two years) is rated at 1000 watts peak bridged. So you are thinking something like 500 watts rms bridged, wrong try a full 860 watts bridged with the gain about 2/3 of the way up, and all the way up it puts out 1210 watts. But still not enough power for me. I am trying to get me another one or an 1800 watt amp. and use the 1000 for my mids. We'll see what happens though.
