I have read post after post about lots of speakers that I never would have known existed if it weren't for this site, but how come no one talks about kicker or cerwin vega very much? Are these no good any more, or are other brands just that much better? I found some brand new kicker k65.2 for cheap and was considering putting them in my QC, then the same place had some C V 2650's for cheap... so I was torn between. So I figured I would ask the pro's here at DD's.com, and I haven't found much??? Any opinions on these two brands?

Certain brands just go out of "fashion" after a while. There's certainly nothing wrong with C-V speakers.

CV as gone down over time but they still have some very high-quality speakers.
Kicker is nowhere near where they used to be. Don't get me worng they still make a FINE product, but for the same price you can make your doller go MUCH further.
I am a BIG advocate of INFINITY. They are VERY well priced and have a sound quality only matched buy other very high priced speakers.
Shop etronics.com for most of your stuff. Great prices and alsmot every brand you can think of, all NEW in box with factory WARNETEE. Ebay is another choice but you have to pick and chose there.

I have Cerwin-Vega 5-1/4" in my old car...theyre going on 5+yrs now and still sound excellent, and they were reasonably priced. Like Jim said, "fashions" change and Cerwinvegas are harder to find now.
Infinity Reference are good speakers for the money and Infinity Kappas are even better. I compared Kickers to the CV's when i bought them and thought the Cerwins sounded better for less money but thats just me. I have a much finer ear for music than a lot of people so..

well I went ahead and got the K65.2's They are a lot bigger than they looked online, which I guess is ok. Now I just have to find a place to mount 4 tweeters :) (oh yeah, I bought 2 pairs of them what the hell right?) I know you want to have the tweets as high and as far forward as possible, but I really don't think I want to flush mount them ('cause I might be trading in my 2k QC for a 05QC when they come out) So that leaves me with this big a$$ tweeter sticking out... in 4 places. I don't have power locks or windows, so I was wondering if I could mount them on the little black plastic panel where the ppwr switches would be? I think that would be pretty in your face though? Especially for the folks in the back. :/ any suggs?

oh yeah, then I gotta mount my amp... and I would rather put it as centered as possible. Maybe under the 60/40/60 center seat/arm rest thing? Ahh well, worry about that when it gets here.
