 Subject: mounting amp under seat

i have a 2003 4x4 standard cab and want to mount my amps under my seats. They have plenty of clearance under there. How can i mount them to keep them from moving? Can i screw them down? What do i have to look out for? Who else has done this? Thankyou

Have a RF 301S under the drivers seat and a Orion 465 under the passanger seat. Mark the amp location with tape while the seat is in, remove the seat and use a 6" ice pick to punch the screw holes. The ice pick realy works well since it doesn't bind on the carpet like a drill bit and pushes the metal through instead of removing it like drilling. I punched one hole and installed the screw, then punched the next hole and installed the screw, ect, ect.
Just make sure you aren't punching or drilling through anything like a fuel line, wires, brake lines, transmission, driveshaft.

Hrmmm i just used some screws and went into the carpet... plain and simple nothing fancy... do it how you like

I'm not flaming on you guys, but velcroing to the carpet and screws in the carpet might hold the amp in position, but it won't secure the amp.
Hood rats love stuff that's easy to steal and amps that aren't secure will be gone in a heart beat if someone wants to steal your stuff. I should know since I have had 2 custom sub boxes and some other equipment ripped off in the last 20 years. Never had an amp ripped off since they were too tough for the lazy b@stards to take out.

He he, I read the velcro/duct tape method thought of a redneck ghetto install. LOL
I wouldn't doubt of that there are some amps out there mounted like this. He11 I have seen some sliding around in the back of cars. Velcro or duct tape would be an improvement for these guys.
I guess if it's duct taped down you use bailing wire for a ground and 200 garbage bag twistie ties for the power wire:-)
