Does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to have a custom box made and installed to be put under the backseat of a 1997 2 door extended cab dakota sport? I would be looking to get 2 10's put in, with an amp in the center of the two inlaid in the box. Any ideas? thanks alot

P.S. Just looking for a price for the box alone with the install.

build your own dude, talk to a shop if you have questions.. buy 3/4" MDF (12$ a 4x8' sheet at home depot)and wood screws and a tube of liquid nails. i build my box for a total of about 25$ not countin coverin it. if your half decent with woodworkin, you shouldnt have too much trouble. remember to measure 3 times cut once. if you have questionsor want pics ill send you them.

hey joe you got dimensions for that box? Or plans drawn out. I am going to make a box but not good at things like that, I'd prolly screw up the measurements and then it wouldn't fit.

DSW, I seen the pictures of your box and was really impressed with it. I spoke with another user from this board that created his own club cab speaker box, but I liked the design of yours better. I was wondering if you would be willing to share your design with me. I currently have the materials and was looking to build it this weekend.

Yeah, copy away and enjoy. It's at least a weekend (2 day) project and that's if you have a good selection of woodworking tools, table saw, chop saw, router, jig saw, sanders, etc, etc. These are complex boxes with fiberglass bottoms. There are 12 MDF peices that make the box, 7 side peices and 5 top peices.

I have some drawings that you might be able to decipher, chicken scratch all over the pages and some things that might not be exactly correct or missing. I had to modify a few things as I went. I also have a set of cardboard templates for the side peices that I could scan and Email. Let me know and I can Email you what I have for the boxes and send along some more pics.

Do some research online before attempting the fiberglassing. It will make this project go alot smoother and DON"T do your first fiberglassing on the box! Try something small to play with and experiment with the fiberglass.

If your making these boxes make sure your sub can run in .65 - .7 cu ft of air volume and have a mounting depth of about 4 3/4", maybe a little over 5". I used RF XLC 10's since I had them, but was drooling over some of the new RF 10's that are optimized for .65 cu ft of air . If your subs have the realy big double magnets they probably won't fit because of the bottom's irregular shape and mounting depth issues.

My stepdad is a woodworking professional. He builds violins and wood furniture. He's going to help me with this. I'm actually going to be mutilating their garage to do this. I'd truly be interested in your design. My email is listed under my profile. Thanks.
