Subject: performance under cold extremes..
IP: Logged

Message:
i have a worry:

i'm about ready to buy my rf he2 8" sub, 8" truck sub box, and rf 201s amp, and some <$50 10-gauge amp wiring kit.

my question is this:

i live in the midwest, where right now, it is hovering below zero degrees fahrenheit. will this be a problem with my subwoofer? of course my regular speakers seem to fare okay with the cold weather, but will a subwoofer be any more affected? how bout the wiring- is it pretty resistant to freezing? has anybody had problems with cold weather? or is it just me worrying over nothing..

thanks

I am from the midwest as well, (Southern Illinois.) Have never had any problem with woofer performance. In other words, don't worry.

form milwaukee wisconsin and the subs work fine once they warm up. The first twenty minutes or so when they are really cold (i Park outside) they don't hit very well. Just let them warm up and they will be fine.

as for the wiring, the colder the temps, the less resistance = better electrical transmission.

well i live in NH and its DAMN cold up here. in the morning ill turn my radio up. i only have a single 10" sub, but it stil sounds fine. its been through 2 winters now. and they were cold winters too. i remember getting up this year to -45 wind chill factor (some where aroun -10 F outside w/out wind). and my speakers worked fine. Now, my truck? thats a bit something else. you gotta let that warm up too ;)
