Subject: Infinity Systems in the 2003 Ram
IP: Logged

Message:
I love Infinity Stystems, but I'm feeling I'm not going to have enough power when I get my Hemi (Ram 1200). First question, Can I just add an amp & subs to the infinity system & how will I do that.

Question 2:
How can I install my DVD Player & monitor still using the infinity stystem? If not possible Can I install a Motorized monitor/dvd player in place of the factory radio and still use the Infinity System?

Question 3:
Or would it be best just getting an basic system and install everything from normal?

I asked these question because I have heard so many rumer when dealing with Infinity & Bose Systems. I keep hearing people and dealers say that if I remove the radio, or strip the speaker wires the systems will not work the same.

I can be reached at kurtfam@cox.net

Yes, use an amp with speaker-level inputs, and tap into the rear channels behind the radio.

"How can I install my DVD Player & monitor still using the infinity stystem?"

Completely stand-alone, unfortunately. Chrysler head units have no provision for an auxiliary input.

"Can I install a Motorized monitor/dvd player in place of the factory radio and still use the Infinity System?"

Possibly. I don't know if the 2003 Ram uses a bus-controlled amp. If it does, you're out of luck. If it doesn't, then the new screen/head unit should work and still sound fine, since the EQ for the system is stored in the amp. Might want to ask a local shop; they may have done a few installs on a Ram.

You have many options, I have a '98 SS/T Ram, and it has the Infinity system in it. I Replaced the factory headunit "STEREO" with a SONY unit,I choose the sony for the options it offers. To do this all that needs to be done is; Buy a dash kit and wire-harness, The wire-harness will plug into the factory harness and the after market unit is wired to it . YES the Infinity system will still work fine, the Infinity system is amplified so you will need to wire the harness's amp remote to the after market units amp remote. You can run a sub also that is easy to do its a stand alone system IE: it will not be tied to the Infinity system, only the headunit and battery. My truck has a center console box that looks factory & has a fold-down storage compartment/back rest, the sub faces down towards floor and holds one 12" sub. The amp is mounted under the drivers seat.If you are going to do the DVD system I stongly urge you to use an all in one in-dash unit. Alpine,Eclipse,Pioneer--- Hope I helped

A '98 Ram is not the same as a 2003. The Infinity systems in them are completely different. If the '03 Infinity system has a bus-controlled amp (which it might) then plugging in an aftermarket head unit would get him no output at all.
