helpful ifo would be what impedance the coils are. If they're all 8Ω+8Ω, then everything in parallel is 1.33Ω. IF they're all 4Ω+4Ω, then it's 0.67Ω. IF they're all 2Ω+2Ω, then you just might not want to bother ;)

true, but he has dual-voice-coil speakers, and will be running each speaker's voice coils in parallel, then each speaker in parallel.

I got that from this

1/RT = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 Where RT is total resistance and R1 thru R3 is the three speakers.

Which comes to 1/RT = 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4

then comes to 1/RT = .25 + .25 + .25

1/RT = .75

1/.75 = 1.333

Something like that anyway. Thought I should show where I got that.

If he's going to be running a MONO amp and it's not some monster amp stable to like .5 ohm then he better series the two voice coils together for each speaker and then parallel them. And that still depends on weather he has an amp to run all that by itself like a 1000 watt RMS. Damn. That's got to be loud as hell!

I've dropped down to single speakers as I've gotten older and required more room for stuff (and the damn kids). Now I only have one 10 inch.

I now run one 10 inch RF HE stuffed in a ported 1 cubic foot box. I have the Quad Cab. There isn't exactly much room behind the seats!
So I wound up cutting out the inso behind the 60 (of the 60/40 rear seats) and shoving the box right in there and I had to cut and weld some mods to the right rear seat to move it up 1 1/2 inches to give enough room. You can;t even know I have a sub. The system is surprisingly loud. The loudest I've ever had from a single speaker.

the subs will be dvc and ran into 2ohm each at three subs on a amp bridged to mono.so this is a .67 load is it not.the amp is a sound stream ref. class a amp .it's able to handle a load down to a 1/4 ohm in stereo and 1/2 ohm in mono.it's rate at 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm at 12.5 volts.now i don't know how true this is so i would think more like 700 watts rms . but this amp is so sweet.only thing that sucks is that it has no cross over.so i have to buy a crossover.but i guess to have good watts .u have to give something up.

It should hang if it's built for that.

My old 600 watt HiPhonics Zeus I recently got tired of rebuilding had 26 output transistors paralleled together and then 12 large mosfets in the power supply section. It was only a two channel amp. It was approx 28 or so inches long and maybe 8 inches wide.

Your amp should be fairly large in size if it will run 1000 watts and do it down to .5 ohms.

Hook it up and try it. If it doesn't cut out on thermal overload, it is probably just fine.

Oh yeah. I still have a pic of it from the last time I fixed it up a bit.

It's now sitting in the closet. It was getting too tore up from soldering and resoldering in parts. Plus it was old school and less efficient.

Ive worked with this alot .. 3 svc 4 ohm subs will produce 1.33333333ohms...but 3 dvc will produce 0.67ohm ..i recomend parallel-series wire conection for dvc 4 ohm subs..just put the coils in series and you will have an 8ohm sub, when you do that to all 3 and connect them in parallel to the amp it will produce a 2.67 ohm load ..and at the same time no overload you amp, this is good cuz all you need is a 2 ohm stable amp ..there alot cheaper than a 1 ohm stable amp...remember in series conections you add the ohm's and in parralel you divide..in other words ..1 dvc sub in series is 8ohm ..1 dvc in parallel is 2ohm ..to divide is 2 subs subtract 50% off the ohms if 3 subs by 33%, by 4 subs 25%if you calculate it it will be like this ...3dvc 4ohm subs..coils in series =8ohm subs..then connect in parallel the ohms are read like this ..8ohm - (conect 2nd sub)50%= 4ohm..(conect third) 4ohm - 33%= 2.67ohm..its very simple when you think about it lol..all i probably wrote a big mess if you don't understand ..just tell me ie simplify it more ..well gl

That's more simple than what I tried to explain LOL!

Damn. 3 subs in a Dakota to begin with WTF???

I NEED my back seat. I have a Quad cab and just one RF 10" HE with a 460 Watt RMS amp.

I surgically installed my 1 cubic foot box behind my rear seat so you can;t tell I have one but it is loud as sh*t for one speaker. I know people with two 10's and mine is louder by far.

The speaker box crammed into place. The amp on right (old HiPhonics 600 Watt Zeus) finally got a funeral so i installed a new one since the pic.

That's my seats with the speaker behind them. I modded my seats to flip down and the right 60% seat is also moved forward 1 1/2 inches but you can't tell by looking.

hey graphitedak..does the quabcab have space under the rear seats? i wouldn't know cuz i have a cc and im gonna put either 3 12" kenwoods or change the wiring and go with 3 dvc either infinity or audiobahn...if you wanna fit another sub in there check if you can put the amp under one of the seats..

Hell no. There is like 1 inch under these rear seats!

It was PURE SURGERY to get that one speaker to fit. I had to use my drill, my grinder/cutting wheel and my wire feed welder to get the job done! If anything, I may try to build a new box eventually, slightly wider and pad the inside with a crap load of insulation and attempt to run two RF 10 inch HE's or something. That should pound like a mo fo especially if my one 10 pounds like the beast does now. My little 6 yr old daughter sits on the side with the sub behid it. It's like HOLY SH*T when I turn it up. Gives her one hell of a back massage!

He he he.. this guy kind of related to me thru marriage was looking in my truck one night while I had the stereo on pretty loud. I know he was trying to see what I had. No such luck with it buried behind the seat!

This is the loudest system I have had with only one speaker. I am still running my stock speakers with additional tweeters off of the head unit. It doesn't sound too bad that way.

HAHAHa, speaking of the phantom speaker setup....
When one of my friends rides in my truck for the first time, i usually cut the bass completely off with the little knob my amp has. Then when we travel for a while and they're not paying attention, I'll crank it up and their expression is hilarious. The best part is trying to tell them I don't have a subwoofer and it's the 6.5's doing it. Better yet, just telling them to find the sub is a great game.
