I've had that happen...not in a dodge but in a camaro. you see, the problem is that you did a crappy job installing the stereo.

I donlt know what ind of reply THAT ^^^ was but you should keep it to yourself. You are not helping anyone.

The problem most of the time is that your ground wire it not grounded well enough. You have a few options.

1) reground your stereo wire to somewhere else on the frame. The stock ground to your stereo ground might not be large or close enough. The ground need to be as short as posible (leave your self some room to work with though :P)

2)If you are running an amp check the ground there too (duh). At any radio shack they have engin noise suppresors (this might be the farad cap you spoke of, I do not konw what that is), The run inline with your power and gound and filter out any noise you might be getting. They have MANY differant ratings and are VERY cost effective (cheep).

3) Take a look at where yur speaker wire are running, and make sure that they are not near any power lines. This is one of the more popular reasons for alternator whine.

Other wise just do a general search under

alternator whine
speaker noise
and whine in speakers

I had to look up the same things when my subs were doing the EXACT same things. It turned out my amp was not as grounded as I thought it was. I had to take a a special washer with teeth on it to "scratch" the surface of my truck. I had 3 layers!!! of paint on the inside of my truck (black, white, and a yellow color) before i hit bare metal.

Type back if none of these work. Best of luck.

Always thankfull,
Ben

Check your RCA wires coming from your headunit...Run them on the opposite side as your power wire. If you run them too close together for 2 long, the RCA's will pick up noise from the magnetic field the power wire gives off when it's energized.
