OK, after research and finally getting enough money im going to buy my system and install it. I have a 99 Dakota RC and this is what I plan on doing:

~Alpine CDA-9815 head unit

~Boston Acoustics Pro Series 6.5" Component Speakers powered by an Alpine MRV-T320 (80x2)

~I am going to keep the stock little 5 1/4 speakers and run them off the head unit until they blow because everyone says dont bother wasting money on upgrading them. (and im buying awesome components anyway)

~Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" sub (4ohm) powered by the kicker KX600.1 (300x1 at 4ohm) As far as the box, im getting it custom made.

To all you guys who actually know what your talking about when it comes to this stuff...will all of these pieces of equipment work together, sound good, etc?? After all my research I have learned a great deal about car audio, but I want someone else's opinion.

Thanks a lot
~Matt

It all sounds good to me, accept running the stock speakers off of the head unit...By having a speaker hooked up to the head unit the amp inside the headunit will have to try and push those speakers....the amps in most head units are sh*t. You will make your head unit work more than is needed, as a result there will be a better chance of passing DC voltage or clipping(which is bad) at higher volumes. I my opinion dont hook up anything to the head unit except power, RCA's, and an antenna.
Good luck, I hope everything turns out good.

With that head unit you should be fine driving the stock speakers. The Alpine 9815 has V-drive which requires an additional 12 V feed from the battery. It also has really good built in low and high pass filters. Idealy another amp would be best, but with the unit pushing like 30/60 rms/peak watts, it should still sound awsome, especially on the stock speakers.

Yeah i dont know if I will even bother hooking those little things up...the Bostons will probably drown them out and they wont make a difference anyway.

Which side should I put the sub on...and will I notice a difference with what side its on, or be able to tell. Sorry for posting about that separately...i didnt realize this post was still up on the list.

Thanks
Matt
