Good sound is a matter of opinion and what you are listening to. I personally run an older model sony es head and love it to death. Mids, still sticking with my mb quarts. Amps, I've always been a fan of soundstream. It's mostly in the install and less in the equipment, BUT having great equipment AND a great install makes for best results.

Like BIGTYMER said, it is personal preference, if it were me, i'd be running a Kenwood head unit because it has a mutable internal amplifier so that since you'll be using the 5.0V preouts, your head unit won't be generating extra noise so that you'll get a cleaner signal to your amps

I'd be using audiobahn A/B class amplifier(s) simply because i have one and have absolutely no gripe about it's sonic quality

I'd also be using Audiobahn components simply because i've never heard as good of sounding speakers as those (not to say that they don't exist).

so in a nutshell, that is my ultimate system.

As for subs, go with a/some Infinity Perfect(s) with an/some MTX or Rockford Fosgate amp(s). May not be the most earth shaking system, but definitely the clearest and most accurate. As for the head unit, it's personal preference (features), but stay away from cheap stuff. Go with an amplifier that has a very good S/N ratio. If you're gonna replace the stock main speakers, go with Kicker.

It is all all subjective, so go with what sounds good to you. With that said, I would use an Alpine head unit with a Soundstream DaVinci amplifier (7 channels, full x-over controls, 1400 watts) with MB Quart components and Rockford Fosgate HX2 subs.

LTU Dak, the sony I have is the C-910 which is the same as the C-90 with don't have internal amps. You have to run an external amp. Hard to make noise with an internal amp if there is none. Also has a full copper chassis, one of the best pick-up devices and the best anti-skip i've seen personally.

im guessing this is going in a dakota so room is very limited. now like they said above its all install I don’t care what you have!

first are you going to be installing this yourself?
if so can you do fiberglass id recommend going with your front kicks for speakers. ditch the rear fill you don’t go to a concert backwards.

or if you want to keep the speakers in stock locations id go with a comp set that works good of axis. rainbows are hella good like Dakman said but idunno for off axis. CDT with my experience works wonders off axis.

for amp don’t listen to people that say you need a S/N ratio. that not very important. a cd can only reproduce I think its at 96 db s/n ratio. look at other factors like damping. it basically is how well a amp can control a woofer under pressure. and look at skew that how fast a amp can process stuff. so on your highs it dose not sound scratchy. also like dakman said brax is a very good amp. id recommend looking into them also tru, zapco, and audison.

for decks the denon is nice but is kinda old hard to get and dose not have a optical out. id much rather go with a p9 combo. although there is a z1 on ebay right now for mad cheap like at 800.

subs all depends on space. id go a w7, id max, elemental A, brahama or something along those lines.

if I where to run a all out system in a dakota it would be a

deck : pioneer Dex-p9
run that optical out to a

DAC: Zapco daII-sc
symbolink to amps
amps: zapco c2k 2.0 ( for highs)
Zapco c2k 6.0 ( for mids)
Zapco c2k 6.0 (for subs)
mid: Seas lotus
high: Dyn md300d
sub: jl 13W7

run the mid and tweet in the kicks and the sub dose not matter as long as its crossed over at about 80hertz. and than run the mid and tweet active.

J@Y, you know what your talking about!

I always find it funny when someone ask for the best at any price and people come back with very average stuff. Come on, MTX, Rockford, Audiobahn, Kenwood and Infinity, I can buy this stuff at my local swap meet.

I currently run Nak ,Rainbow(not the $7K set), USAmps and Image Dynamics, it sounds good for about $2K

The reason that people like myself buy "cheap" brands like that is because that's all we've ever shopped for. I had no idea denon made decks. I've never heard of rainbow, usamps, brax, or image dynamics. I'm sure they sound good, but until I graduate with my Engineering degree, i'm sticking to the "stuff that at my local swap meet."

Go to a local specialty car audio dealer, I myself work at Sound Warehouse based in Utah. Different speakers sound different in different vehicles. Talk to an installer, we usually know a lot more about what sounds good in what. Yes, brand does matter as the more expensive stuff usually sounds better. I have a 97 dakota with Planet Audio components, amps, and interconnects and it sounds killer. I have the club cab and i took out the rear and fiberglassed a monster enclosure for 2 12" subs, 2 6 1/2" mids for rear fill, and my 3 amps. All fiberglass painted black w/ clear coat to match the exterior. In the front stage I have two sets of components, i fiberglassed the kick panels for 5 1/4" and used the stock locations in the doors. As for the head unit I use Clarion's VRX935.

All those super high end systems are nice but for the average guy who wants good sound i recommend

Head Unit: a good pioneer premier unit
Amps: The older HiFonics (Boltar, Zeus, etc.) silver series have always been good.
Speakers : Boston Accoustics
Subs : Kicker Comp
This is what I use with good connection wires throughout gives great sound.

I have the Alpine CDA-9815 ($500 retail), boston pro series components powered by an alpine MRV-T320, infinity perfect 10" sub powered by a kicker KX600.1. It cost me about $1400 to complete my entire system only because of me spending countless hours searching the net for the best prices.

I am overly pleased with the boston speakers, they sound awesome and get loud as $hit, the sub was the best i found to fit in the little space of a RC, and it hits extremely accurate even when its cranked up, also its enough to make me need to readjust my rear view mirror.

Overall im pleased with my equipment and my install, especially for the price.

Yeah, but if you would have read the original message, it says "Money no Object", which means we are not talking about "what the average guy can settle with", we are talking about, the best $hit and the best $hit costs some scratch.

if you have 3093.02$ for a system you can build the
highest quality system emaginable by being smart with
your purchases. if your not done yet you need help making
decisions. I have a system consisting of

Sony XES P1
XES X1
XES T1
XES C1
McIntosh MC440M
MC431M
MPM4000
Focal Utopia 180W
Utopia 136W
Utopia 33WX

And I can tell you that no car audio system can beat this for
sound quality. you may sound as good with some smart
buys but never better. This is not a spl set up but still hits
at about 140db crystal clear!!! at 98db you are in heaven
with your favorit artist performing just for you on the dash
of your car. And to be compleetly honest I have way less
than 3000$ invested however my system is worth over
12,000$ if any one wants to talk quality I know my stuff
and I am willing to help

i would go with an eclipse radio for the 5v preouts, 7band eq, built in tracking device for security, e-commander so everything is voice activated including cellphone dialing (its pimp)and an in-line booster which boost your preouts to like 12 or 18v ... beat that :)

amps - zapco

highs - CDT or focal

subs - 15" XXX's or brahma's (both slam and damn a w7)

wiring - forgot the name but it cost like 15g for RCA's ... 15grand for a wire!! if not, rockford or any reputable company. circuit breaker, no fuse, and lets up the magic 3 with some 4gauge wiring and maybe a cap. if that doesnt work.

sound deadening - Edead by elemental designs

box material - 3/4" MDF with liquid nail and fiberglass sealed and a choice of fiberglass or line-X (aka probox) finish and 4" ports if wanted.

i miss anything for sound? ill be running 4 10" ED K's in a sealed box off a 1000w hifonics amp @1ohm under my seat, 4 gauge rockford wiring and my eclipse HU w/ 5v preouts ina single cab 98 dak. it should get quite loud and have good SQ being single cab truck w/ subs right on top you. of course i am building a new center console to allow 4 10s behind my seat w/ an icechest hidden under the console compartment and 7.5" tv built into it.

if u r are low on room in the cab a single kicker solo-baric(excuse the spelling) can produce some awesome bass. As far as an amp these guys are right, its mostly in the installation. A 5,000 dollar system can sound like a system straight out of walmart if not adjusted and installed correctly. I myself am custom building a firedown box for my 4 tens in place of my center console. Its alot of trouble it will be worth it. Oh Yeah dont forget your capicator. I didnt read the post closely but a cap. can be a very vital part of your system.
