ive got a 2000 dakota slt extended cab... went ahead and installed my system in it today. everything worked fine as long as i had the headunit on the radio... if i play a cd only the subs play... its a aftermarket head unit.. and i got the harness to convert the factory hookups to my head unit... i just cant figure out why i lose all the factory speakers when i play a cd.. but they work fine with the radio........and now they dont work with the radio either... only like the first 15 seconds the truck is on.. then all the lights dim almost like a power loss. and the subs go out... factory door speakers still wont work with cd

You've got a serious electrical problem if that's happening. Your harness may be faulty and shorting out, or who knows... ???

do you have the interior speakers on an amp? or are they just straight off the head unit?

If you hooked up the infinity speakers to the head unit, that may be your problem. The factory infinity system is a 2 ohm system.
