Subject: Too much Bass and Right rear Speaker
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2001 club cab with a custom box containing one phoenix gold 12 and a RF 200 amp.
When the sub is on it vibrates the right rear of the truck so much it makes the right rear speaker distort. I thought the right rear speaker was bad but I replaced it, and the new one does the same thing from the bass. I have dynamat under my custom box. Should I spend the money and put it around the right rear speaker? Or just buy a bigger amp for the front speakers and forget the rear? Any ideas?

Buy yourself a good set of componets and amp for them. Then disconnect the rear speakers no need for rear fill anyways in the clubcab.I have a single 8 and componets in my door with the tweeters mounted on the kick panels and it sounds good to me.Thats just my two cents.Kill the rear speakers dont need them.

Chris might be on to something, the rear speaker could be distorting from trying to get too much out of it.

Like rhlam96 said - I'd disconnected the rear speakers and put a set of components up front with an amp running them, it will sound much better like that.

The rear speakers have electronic crossvers on them. They are set @ 125 Hz 12db, high pass. All the other speakers doing the highs get the same signal as the right rear. Any bass boost from the head unit should not matter with the crossover on. The speaker only distorts when the sub is playing. I put dynamat extreem around the right rear speaker and it still did not fix the problem. I know a lot of you have 15's in your Club Cab, do any of you have any problems?

Your right the crossover's should be keeping the most of the bass out of them. You could try a higher crossover setting to be sure. So it might be something as simple as a lose wire then. Or maybe the amp is drawing up all the current? Do your lights dim when the bass hits? Do you have an amp on rear speakers or is running off your head unit? Personally in a small club cab your wasting your time messing with rear speakers anyway, just my $.02
