Help! I just ordered and received my Pioneer 1 1/2 DIN CD player. I have a 2001 CC and am worried now that it won't fit. The Pioneer has square corners and the Dakota has round. Has anybody ran into this problem before? I would hate to have to return it, but I don't want to cut up the dash to make it work. Thanks.

Call Crutchfield and see if it would need an installation kit. They would be able to tell you, or you can go to their web site www.crutchfield.com if it does you can order one from them and they are good quality products.

If the 1 1/2 din Pioneer you ordered is the "direct-fit" for chyrsler and gm, it probably won't fit with the 01 dash bezel's rounded edges. I have the same dash and Crutchfield had no install kit for that radio last May when I inquired. I went with a Pioneer Din and their kit looks very good, radio is flush with dash. You may be able to custom fab brackets that allow the radio to be recessed just behind the dash panel since the front of the 1 1/2 din has a flat face I think. Could always carefully cut the rounded corners to be square so a 2000 kit would work? Good-Luck and let us know what you find out or end up doing!

Im pretty sure Ive read that some guys have installed that unit in an 01....check out the archives and see...then you can e mail that person direct to see what they did.

This is what I did with my Din kenwood...I certainly dont love the install, but its about the best that can be done without getting crazy with custom work(fiberglass)

It should fit behind the dash piece, not flush.

I just got off the phone with crutchfield and the guy said they didn't make a kit that allowed the Pioneer 1 1/2 DIN unit to fit in the 2001. He said there would be nothing to hold the thing in place since the corners would not match up and wouldn't be able to go in all the way. I read a post by a guy who said he installed the same thing in his 01, but he hasn't replied to me yet, and I just don't see how he could have done it and had it look good. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

This weekend I ripped the dash panel off my Dak and got down to the stock stereo which I pulled out. I then took my Pioneer and held it up to the dash panel to see what it would look like. Not bad, but it would look better with a plastic mounting bracket to make it flush. I also found out that I would have to buy a wiring kit to take the two factory plugs and make them fit the single plug in the Pioneer. I decided for the time being to just put the stock radio back in and wait to see if anybody comes out with a kit to make a 1 1/2 DIN unit fit in the 01. Thanks for all of your help.
