Subject: good question about speaker grille

Has anyone here installed a custom speaker grill on their door panel? I am thinking about buying a door panel for a 99 dakota sport and cutting the grille out (anyone know of a way it pops out?) and putting some else there...

And for all of you who described how to remove the back panel of a ext. cab dakota, GOD BLESS YOU! Wow, you guys made it easy...I love this message board...

And since I am new, I will let you know about my truck.. my old Dakota (89 model) was killed by an 18 wheeler (luckily I wasn't in it) and so my mom got me a new truck for college.. A nice, red 99 Dakota sport.. it came with a non-factory cd player, but was a crap job for whoever put it in.. but I will change that.. on my list first is to add some 6x9s (Kenwood prob.)in the back (gonna cut some metal for it), then replace 6" with a component 6.5" (prob. audiobahn) and then drill some holes to add some tweeters.. then I will bring in the good subs :)

Anyways, sorry this is so long.. gotta make my entrance to this great site of helpful and proud dakota owners :)

Not that I know of. Most Chrysler vehicles have the grille molded in as part of the panel. Gonna have to cut.

"on my list first is to add some 6x9s (Kenwood prob.)in the back (gonna cut some metal for it),"

Question: if you're going to add subs, why go through the hassle of cutting metal for 6x9s?

dang.....cutting plastic and fitting it perfectly seems like something those car guys do on TV easily, but confuses everyone else...

And for the 6x9s... I wont amp them prob. I just want some good mid-bass range, and me being a bassist, ya know how I must feel about feeling the bass while it pounds my chest ;)
- plus, makes me feel special when i get to do soemthing tricky and requires thinking, lol
