No...they aren't.

There are a LOT of amps that are better buys.

Good for you bud, invest in Miracle Ear stock.
92Dakota your absolutly right bud. And Ive also one 3 trophies too. First with JL Audio 500/1 with 2 of the original W3s 12's. I hit 145.6 with all sealed enclosure. The other two was with 2 12" W6v2s and an Xtant 1001. They changed that mics from the old mics to a little box you put on you windshield. People were getting really loud last year so they lowered the dbs and I got first with a 141.3 the guy in second hit 140.5 he had 2 kicker L7s in a little old escort running 4 JL 500/1s a pair to each one. I know what im doing too nil2thebrain so dont try to sound like you do little boy.

I hate it when people decide they like one brand, then refuse to consider anything else. I have favorite brands, but I always keep a lookout for anything better.

Good amps on a budget are...

Lanzar Vibe 1200d - 1300rms
Lanzar Optidrive 1000.1 - 1300rms
Crossfire BMF1000d - 1230 rms
MTX 1000d/81000d/1501d - 1600-1700rms
DEI 1100d - 1300-1400rms
JBL BP1200 - 1400rms
RE 35.1D
Ampman/Adire Revolution

I just look and see what the competitors are using. If they are using an amp, it is most likely built good enough to withstand low ohm loads, 16-18 volt input, and heavy use.

The only person that can answer your question is you. The best thing to do is go to these sites and choose for yourself. Almost everyone will give you personal opinion based on what they have or have had. Look up the facts and make a decision. You guys are hilarious. Talking about stuff that isn't true, bashing other companies...

92DAKOTA stated some actual tested numbers.

I like both amps. The memphis seems to stay cooler longer but like stated its power output is lower. I can however get the memphis a lot cheaper than the MTX. I'd be careful with the lanzar. The 1200d may be good (i've read numbers/info) but I've ran other lanzar amps that would burn up so fast it was silly.

The new sony xplod stuff is crap IMO but I have some older sony equipment that I use and love.

I'm still waiting to hear numbers from nil. Not to say that they are real or accurate but I'd still like to hear.

All running off 1 700 watt amp.
2 sealed 12's - 148
4 sealed 12's - 152
2 sealed 15's - 154
Running off 1 2000 watt amp.
2 ported 15's - 157
4 ported 15's - ???

Hey all, just thought I would add my two cents.

I love memphis. Every since I bought my 4 10" PR's and my 1000D last year. Spec sheat with the amp said 900 watts RMS, 1100 watts max with slighty higher distortion (don't remember exact THD values). On the bench I tested the amp ~980 watts RMS which is more then enough to power 4 10" PR's.

Last year I entered my car into a SPL competition and hit an amazing 147 DB's. I ran my amp hard all day and it was barely warm to the touch.

Buddy that helped me design my box has the same amp but on 2 15" PR's with a similar box design and tuning as mine. He won the competition at 151.2 DB's and only running 600 watts RMS out of his 1000D. Now thats INSANE!!!. Second place went to a chevy blazer with two Fosgate P2's running 750 RMS a peice @ 150.8 Db's

So since I only paid $1300 CAD for my subs and amp at a local retail store im kind fond of memphis. I dont have much experience with MTX other then that I can get it dirt cheap here and I hate there subs. But thats just personal preferance on sound.
