Message:
I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota (quad cab, no inifnity sytem) and I just purchased a new head unit to replace the factory one. Well, I am moving from a car to a truck, so this is all new to me. How do you get the factory head unit out of there? I would appreciate detail instructions or pictures if possible. THANKS!

Chris, theres 3 or 4 screws under the steering column like where your knee's are when your driving, and there's two right above you gauges. Once you take those out, you can just give a little tug on your dash, and it should pull right out. You will need to disconnect the wires to your lights, and AC. You'll see the plugs when you start to pull the dash off a little. You might want to set the e-brake, and turn your key on (don't crank the truck, just turn the key to the on position), and put truck in 1st gear too. This is just to get the gear shifter out of your way, cause it's a tight fit to get the dash out. Once that out of your way, there's 4 screws that hold the Head Unit in place, remove those, and it all comes out. I might have forgot about a couple screws, but this give you an idea of what your getting into, I'm sure if I did forget any steps, someone will be quick to point it out. Hope this helps, have fun.

Tony

My website lists the adaptors you'll need to hook everything up: http://www.blueoceanpress.com/~storage/truck/index.html
