I'm trying to put new speakers in the front doors. Are there any tricks or secrets to removing the door panel. I have a 98 Dodge Dakota EX cab. Thanks

No tricks or secrets. You'll need a star drill bit though. Just remove the screws from the very bottom of your door (3 I believe) then from the sides. FRom the hole up by your mirror and also the one underneath your door handle. After makign sure they are all out just lift your door up and it will come off. Putting it back on you will have to do it the same way you took it off because the little ledge hooks around. So just hold it up and slowly push it down into it's place. Not hard at all...if you like to take things apart you'll figure out how they get back together.

Well, what's the star drill bit for, I'm wondering cause I've taken my door panels off a number of times with no star drill bit needed?
Chris-Do you have power windows, and locks? If so, remember to unplug them. If it's manual, you'll have to take the window crank off. Now some of ya'll might find this amusing, but I've found that a simple fork works very well in getting that clip off the crank because of it's shape. I know, I know, laugh it up, but HEY, it works good, and you don't have to go spending your money on some fancy tool. Anyway, let us know how it goes Chris.

(If you have manual windows)Before you can remove the door panel. Everyone has forgotten that you need to remove the crank. YOu need a special tool to loosen it for removal.

^^^ some have a C shaped clip right between the where the crank attaches to the the door and the door panel to have to get that clip off by either using the tool made for this task or a screw driver its not that hard to do. or like my '93 there is a round shaped cap on my crank and if you pop it off there is a srew there just unscrew and your good to go. here is a pic of it on my truck
