I've got a 600W amp pushing two JL 12's in sealed boxes in my '01 4.7 CC.
Since I've put it in there is a pretty loud high-pitched whine from the subs. It's not the alternator. I had the exact same equipment/setup in a '01 Z28, and I didn't have this problem.
Is this a ground-loop? (I'm electronic engineer), but I'm missing something, and can't figure it out.
I've got the amp mounted/grounded under my seat,,,free of any electrical sources (from what I can tell) Would a high pass filter on the line work? It's constant tone/pitch, from the moment I start the radio (doesn't matter if the truck is running or not)
What's causing this? How is it fixed?

Thanks.

you might want to try to mute the amp inputs.

If the noise goes away, then the problem may be noise coupling into the audio via the signal cables.

If the noise remains, then the problem may be related to the speaker wires, any passive crossover elements, and/or the speakers themselves, or the amplifier.

This one simple muting test will reduce your troubleshooting problem by 50%.

Also check your ground. In my last car I had the same thing. What it was the ground was along side the rca's for about 6"...The way I fixed it was to simply put some wire loom (cheesey, but it worked) around both the ground and the rca's. Basically, just add shielding to your rca's and see if that corrects the problem

Xplikt- Traded her in on the '01 Dak. She (Z28) was white, the dirt road I live constantly has water standing,,plus it was a sheer obstacle course getting home everynight. Only had her for about 6 months,,,funny thing is she sat at the dealership for another 6 months,,, and eventually had to be auctioned off!! a totally loaded (nix leather) '01 Z28! Someone got a sweet deal.
I'll try muting the inputs, and see what happens,,,I'm constantly on the road, and don't have much play time any mo'.
Thanks for the info..I'll give it a try.
