Subject: 6x9 Speakers in a CC
IP: Logged

Message:
So, has anyone out there replaced their 6.75" speakers in the back of their CC with 6x9s? I'm thinking of putting my Bostons back there from my old car, but don't want to have boxes laying on the floor boards. Thanks for the info.

I just put in some 6x9's in my 02 CC over the weekend. I just got some cardboard, and made a template for the cutout, marked it on the back panel, and cut it out. I figure I'll keep this truck for a while, and when I do sell it, I'm just gonna leave the 6x9's in there, and not worry about taking them out. One thing to watch for when putting the plastic panel back on though. Those little plastic clips, that hold it in place, well, one of them is in the perfect place to puncture your new speakers. I got a little hacksaw, and just got rid of the one that was in the way, and popped it back in place. Hope it goes as well as mine did. Good Luck.

did you cut the metal? or did you cut the actual plastic piece and mount them there? I've been thinking of doing this myself.

I cut the metal, not the plastic. Then drilled a few holes, and bolted on the 6x9's. When I put the plastic back on, the only difference you can tell is if your speakers have a name on them. Just make sure that yellow plastic mounting pin is not going to puncture your speaker though. I was just about to pound it all in place, and looked one more time to make sure they were all lined up with the hole, and realized one was about to put a hole in my cone. Let me know if you have any more questions.
